It’s a cost-effective fix: Drive prices have dropped recently, so you can get plenty of gigabytes for your bucks. Choose the new hard drive here as the target disk. Don’t be confused by its name because it can apply to HDD as well. Click Migrate OS to SSD in the left pane. It wouldn’t work to put High Sierra on a new drive wich has a original installed OS X done through recovery. After installing the OS you can restore your old files from a time machine backup. If you’re still happy with that old machine’s performance, there’s no need to get a whole new Mac just to get more storage room: In many cases, it makes way more sense just to upgrade the hard drive. Install and open Partition Assistant Standard. Before you remove the old hard drive you need to prepare the USB stick so you can install it on the new drive.
