Zoom would be great for completing small jobs on the PC from a distance (anything that doesn't require typing). It would be easy for a manufacturer to really make a cool remote that functioned as a mouse and which enabled a user to switch back and forth from television to Windows.maybe even start an internet browser using a mouse button. I am 98% sure there is nothing like this available, right now, but it would be the perfect thing for me.
Also, the PC could be powered on using he remote for use with the remote or with a standard mouse and keyboard (like when someone is rolling out of bed) or could be powered automatically through the use of a programmable alarm/computer wake program. The television would be run fromt he wall through the digital cable television box, then to the PC television tuner using the standard cable. By that I mean that the PC powers on (from any state) and then the television comes on. I want a PC based television which can be turned on with a remote. Moved from Internal hardware to External Hardware ~ Hamluis. Has anyone seen anything like this type of set up? I realize that powering on a PC to turn on the TV is kind of extreme, but I keep my PCs on "Stand By", and I really need the feature for the television to be practical. Actually, if I only had those two features it would be enough. The standard cable company remote works fine for changing channels, but I can't turn off the TV from a distance with the remote, and the volume control does not function. Right now, I have a 3" x 3" digital cable box hooked up to the AverMedia tuner I have which is connected via USB to the PC. If I pick up the remote to watch television, all I have to do is click TV and then on, and the rest happens automatically. What it comes down to is that I would like a PC TV which functions with essentially the same ease as a PC or a television. Program feature for recording even if PC is in "Stand By" or off Auto-off feature which works from the remoteħ. TV auto on and alarm even if the PC is in "Stand By" or offĦ. 1" x 2" mini tv window option on the remoteĥ. Remote control power on TV when PC is in "Stand By" or offĤ.
